Coincidence?

I spent a great day with friends riding our bikes and enjoying a sumptuous meal. The missus and I rode from St. Paul to North Oaks and then did a loop out into Washington County before returning home. Mileage was just over 70 and despite chilly winds most of the day, we had a great time.

But we noticed that the farther we got from the urban core, the roads became almost un-ridable. Washington County's roads were some of the worst I have ridden on in quite some time. Washington County is primarily conservative in it's politics and has twice elected this moon bat to Congress:

In her view, most taxes are bad. So, is it coincidence that at least one county in her district has roads that would embarrass some third world countries? I'm just saying . . .

I've found Washington County roads to be exceptionally good for cycling, in general. I'm not about to start pointing fingers given the condition of roads hereabouts...

I agree that Bachmann is a nut.

If you ask her about it, she'll probably come up with some wacky conspiracy theory about how Obama or other Dems are ruining the roads there.

Personally, I'm glad to see her open her mouth every few days and spout inane drivel. All the Democrats will need in 2010 is a candidate who can fog a mirror.

Since I live on the west side of town I don't get over to 'Moon Bat' county very often but there are certainly plenty of crappy roads over on this side of town as well.

The deterioration of roads makes sense but I don't know if I will ever understand how Bachmann gets elected.

It was amazing how much better the roads were as we got closer to the east metro. The roads we were on in Washington County were bad to the point that you really had to pick your way through 4-6 inch holes in the road surface.

The roads arent great in the metro but when you consider the volume of traffic they get compared to those in WC -- hats off to the Mpls and St Paul street departments. They do a lot with less and less and the roads are positively smooth in comparison.

Obviously, your new road bike should be the Karate Monkey. Save the Goodriches for the trainer.

Washington County went for Tinklenberg. And Obama. You have Anoka and Sherburne Counties to thank this time around for the lunatic Bachmann.
